Sick, Sick Scary!

Like I posted earlier, I had changed the sheets on my bed and was cleaning. Grace hopped under the covers of my clean sheets a while later and spilled her glass of strawberry milk all over the bed! I asked Bailey and her to go downstairs to watch cartoons while I changed the sheets again.
First I changed Ethan's diaper and put him to bed for a nap then I started on the bed again. When I was finished Tony called and I was talking to him for a bit. He asked me to bring him lunch at work. So I got off the phone and called the girls upstairs so I could get them dressed again.
Nobody answered when I called their names. I had a awful thought as my stomach dropped. I felt sick and thought what if they got outside and drowned in the pool! So I stood still and listened and sure enough I heard Bailey outside they had gotten out but were OK. Whew, just my mind playing tricks on me
I opened my window and yelled at them to get upstairs NOW!
They came upstairs with grace sobbing. The girls were both in their swimsuits and they were wet. Grace had boogers all over her face. Bailey told me they hopped in the pool and Grace was drowning! She said she got on Ethan's floatie and pulled Grace out! She said she saved her from drowning!
I thought I was going to puke. I have been crying off and on today. I know they are OK and it could have been tragic. It is the scariest feeling ever. I just keep saying a prayer of thanks that my little girl is OK. I am so, so grateful Bailey was able to pull her out. I want desperately to move to a house that has no pool or a fence that is dead bolted. Our landlord didn't want us to put a pool fence up saying the special door on the back is too hard for little ones to open. Guess she didn't think about them going through the garage to get to the backyard!
I think this will stick with me for awhile. I keep snuggling my two girls.Gracie is laying with her head on my leg as I am typing this and she is giggling because she is singing the song from my playlist. I love her so much. I am just so grateful she is OK! I think I'll be thanking my Heavenly Father that she is safe over and over.

Glad to hear that they are both okay. That will teach your landlord. What a brave little girl. I know she was getting inspiration from above on how to help her sister. Lots of hugs and kisses!

I am pretty sure it is illegal to rent out a house with a pool without a fence. I know there are laws against such things. I'll have to look it up. SCARY! When we bought this house we were actually looking for a house without a pool because I was so paranoid about drowning. I used to wake up in the middle of the night when Rach was a toddler to make sure all of the toilet lids were down. I was just positive she was going to drown in the toilet in the middle of the night! So we bought this house because it was the right dicision even though it had a pool, but the first thing we did was put up a gate. (now I wouldn't be without one) I can't believe your landlord won't put in a gate! Crazy! And I am pretty sure illegal. Everybody around here has a gate. I can't believe those little girls just went out swimming by themselves! Thank goodness Bailey was able to have the presence of mind to pull her out. What a big girl! Give them lots of love. We'll see you tomorrow.

Time to get one of those electronic fences and put collars around your girls that will zap them when they go near the pool. ;-) Seriously, what a horrifying experience. I feel like puking too and not just from pregnancy!

What a horrible experience, thank goodness they're fine. Yeah, I'm pretty it's illegal about the fence thing.

Oh, how horrible! I can't even imagine it. I agree with Suzann, I'm sure Bailey had divine inspiration to help her out. Do you think this is part of your answer on whether to move? At the least, you should be able to get a fence in immediately and withhold that portion of the rent. Grateful prayers tonight!

Oh man. That makes me sick! I am SO glad they are okay. Way to go on Bailey being the hero! It happens so fast, doesn't it?

Oh my gosh. How scary. When we purchased our house it had no pool fence. I asked the home inspector about the legality of it and it is basically up to the home owner. The only city ordinace is that there must a deterant, which in our case, were patio door handles higher than a child's reach. Give me a break, our kids can grab a chair and get to the handles. Neddless to say that we had a pool fence installed within a month of moving in, indluding a self locking latch. I can certainly understand your scare. The pool is a constant lesson that we teach the kids, but kids will be still be kids. They think they are so independent, even at a young age. Glad all turned out ok.

I told Mike about this last night and he told me it is definitely illegal not to have a fence around the pool when you are renting the house. Your landlord could be in some serious trouble.
