MMM...Trashy Goodness!

OK~ most of my good friends and family already know this about my family but I am going to let you in on our little secret for those of you who don't know this....My family tends to be a bit of spam sucking trailer trash! It's true I swear. Not only do we acknowledge this but we embrace our trashy side. Ok, hell~we OWN it!

Now that you know that about us can you guess what one of my families all time favorite dinners is?

Hmm is it Tacos? Umm, No!

Is it Pizza? Nope, Definitely not trashy enough......

Is it Beans and Weenies? Ok, sleazier, but not the favorite.....

Is it Hamburger Helper??? You are on the right track, Oh yes,
a favorite meal but not THE favorite.....

Sooooo What is it?? What is the favorite meal?? Tuna burgers my friends, yes Tuna burgers..
I was making up my menu for the upcoming week and was asking the kids what meals they were in the mood for. Homemade mac n cheese? Enchiladas? Chicken potpie? Nope, They wanted Kraft Macaroni and cheese(offensive!)corn dogs, beans and weenies, and oh,oh, please, please, please mom, can't we please have tuna burgers? You never make us tuna burgers.

Ok, So I did today and you would have thought I made a 5 star meal. The oohs and ahhhs were impressive! SUPER!

See~ The spam sucking trailer trash?...We OWN it!

Ok, Now you all didn't think I was going to share with you how much we love tuna burgers and not give you the recipe...So here it is if you are feeling like embracing your trashy side too!

First, mix some tuna, mayo, and mustard together. Add some pepper, and season salt.

Now this is where you can go a little butt wild with your creative side....Add whatever your family likes in their tuna..Maybe chopped eggs, green onions, celery, relish etc...go for it!!

Second step, set your oven on broil.Take some hamburger buns, split them in half and butter the insides of them. Place them on a cookie sheet and put the cookie sheet in the oven.

Step three, once the buns are lightly browned take them out of the oven and put a scoop of tuna on the buns. Put some shredded cheese on top of the tuna. Place back under the broiler until cheese melts. Voila...Yes, a bit sleazy but~

MMMMM Trashy Goodness! Come on~ You know you're curious!

As your sister here, I can attest to the truth of your blog and the wonder of Tuna Burgers. When Rom and I were first married, I didn't know how to cook much. So, when his sister came to visit, and he wanted me to impress her with my cooking, guess what he asked me to make? Yes, Tuna Burgers! The sad thing is I burned them. We OWN it!

Comfort food. Those remind me of my childhood. While I was working in Kauai, we were treated to lunch one day at the hotel. Our employer told us to choose anything we wanted. All three of us chose the tuna melt. It brought back memories! I am embracing my trashy side as well.
