Years ago my mother made a cookbook for all of us kids. It included all of our favorite recipes from growing up.
It has become one of my favorite cookbooks. There is something comforting about making the same rolls recipe year after year for the holidays, the same stuffing recipe, Mom's fab cheesecake recipe!
I love cooking and have added to the cookbook my kids favorite recipes now as well. As each of them leave home and get married, I plan on giving one to each of them!
Ashley has been bugging me because she is at BYU and I haven't gotten hers to her yet...it's coming I promise!!
Anyhow, one of our all time favorite recipes is this homemade french bread recipe. I made it last night and thought how much I loved it. It is so good with spaghetti or a hot bowl of soup.It is so stinking easy to make and my kids absolutely love, love it!
Thanks mom for the cookbook, it is loved and well used after all these years!
So, do you have any recipes that have been handed down to you that you love??

Your mom had such agreat idea. I wish I had one of those from my mom. When I got married, I couldn't even boil eggs! Useless. I wonder how many of our recipes are the same as yours. I bet we use the same cheesecake recipe. My dad loved it. and probably the same french bread recipe too. And we have all loved the food you have brought over for dinner. It is not often that all 4 of the kids will eat the same thing. How much would I have to bribe you with to make me a copy of your book when you make Ashley's?;)
And I love the new blog layout! You are becoming an expert! I should take lessons...
I wish my mom did that for me, because I have very limited cooking skills. But now I just call her for a recipe that I want to use write it down and put it in one of my own cookbooks. People keep buying me cookbooks, you think that's a sign?
Yum!! I love french bread! It looks really good!!
Our all time family favorite is called Farfalle (actually, that's the short name). It's super easy. It's the only dinner that absolutely everyone loves. I'll have to take pictures and post the recipe one of these days. Taco salad (you remember that one!) is a close second.
Yum! I love all of those recipes. When Brent and I were first married, I made chicken curry salad almost every week. I felt like such a gourmet chef! He ate it so much that he can't stand it anymore. Crazy!
What a great idea. I should start that now, so by the time the kids are adults it will be completed. Nice touch MOM!!!
It would have been nice to have a jump start.
awesome cookbook! post the recipe!
please? do it, do it!
Oh and we have a family cookbook my aunts all made 20 years ago. we all got copies. all the family faves are in it. and some gross stuff. but still perfect for family functions.
great idea to do one for your own family, and all the faves, and send them off with their own. fabulous!
I just left a comment and it didn't post. Figures. I LOVE family recipe books. I have been working on one for well over a year - it was supposed to be a Christmas gift last year. Oh well - missed that deadline. What a great gift to give your kids. Please feel free to pass along the french bread recipe. I have been looking for a good one. I'll happily teach you how to make homemade Italian sauces in return! Lets make a play date.
